LAGOON CITY MAP
I was born January 12, 1956, and was raised most of my life in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, approximately 40 miles east of Toronto. I met my wife Maxine when I was 17 and we have been together for 49 years and have been married for 42 years.
I started at General Motors in September 1976 and became a team leader and spent 33 years there before retiring in March 2008. I became interested in radio at the age of 14. I listened to a lot of shortwave and scanner radio and obtained my citizen band licence at age 14. Because of my love for radio, I earned my Amateur Radio Operator's Licence on January 10, 2018.
The bands I currently operate are 70cm, 2 metres, 10 metres and down to 80 metres. My HF station consists of a Yaesu FT-900 running 100 watts through a Vectronics VC300DLP tuner feeding a G5RV antenna in an inverted-V configuration approximately 35 feet high. Audio is provided through a Heil Goldline microphone. For VHF/UHF I use a Yaesu FT-7800 and a Yaesu FT-60 handheld. I am also learning CW using a Bencher paddle. I serve as a Net Control Station for the South Coast Amateur Radio Service and became a board member on May 6, 2022. My other hobby is year-round fishing.
